This Class

I realize that tonight we are presenting our power point presentations. I do this with some hesitation because I don't really feel that I accomplished all I needed to in this class. I, however, am at a loss at to what else I can add to my presentation based on my present level of competence. I will show what I've got. I really don't know what else I can add.
Adding anything else at this point would be like throwing a thimble full of water at a three alarm fire (hence, the picture).

Auburn Cityfest

This is Pearl and my daughter Brice. Pearl is a tri-state (Florida, Georgia, Alabama) rescue dog. It has taken us almost two years, but I am proud to say that she went to Cityfest with us and survived (even appeared to enjoy) the activities. When we first got her she spent as much time as she could in the back of our closet, or couch, or corner. She would only eat at night when she was alone. She failed to make eye contact with anyone. She is still adjusting, making progress a little at a time, but her trip to Cityfest was certainly a milestone!

Parents Day Out

We held the first ever "Parents-Day Out" yesterday at the Auburn University Autism Center. Eleven volunteers from the Student Government Associations couped with six volunteer doctoral/masters students and staff from the AUAC to host eleven students with autism ages four to eleven. The event lasted four hours. The students engaged in various activities with their "buddies" and with each other. The event came to a close with a movie and popcorn as the parents returned from their day spending time with each other and "typical" siblings. It was fun. The event increased autism awareness for the volunteers and provided much needed respite for the families.

Interactive PowerPoint

I think I now have all the components I want in my PP presentation. I just need to finish up the interactive components. The "buttons" on my slide work (for the most part) and the user can move to various parts of the presentation through the table of contents. The quiz questions are in place and when the user clicks on a correct answer they receive an applause. For an incorrect answer they hear an exploding bomb. The presentation still needs work and I have questions that I hope to have answered Monday night.

Autism Walk/ Softball Tournament/ Power Point

Busy weekend. Despite the rain my daughter Brice and I volunteered at the Autism walk here in Auburn this weekend. My husband took my other daughter Casey to her softball tournament in Montgomery. The first game was rained out. They played two more. We were all cold and wet when we got home. But a great time was had by all and for a good cause. Its now Monday and I will miss class tonight so I am going to work for a few hours on my class project here in the LRC. Since it's cold outside I actually prefer being inside today. Well, I just found out a class is going to meet in here so I guess I will have to return later. The best laid plans...

Counting Down

Hard to believe the end of the semester is just a few weeks away. Still working steadily at completing the Power Point presentation for class. Had to re-look at the Lohr book regarding composition of my slides in order to increase my visual literacy...

Hey JT! Good luck on comps....

Rainy Saturday PP Work

This weekend I plan to finish writing the questions for my power point quiz. I should be able to add them to my presentation at home and then add the "bells and whistle" or scripts on Monday in class. I hate the fact that I will miss class on the 14th. I know I'll need the time to work on my presentation with "user friendly" help!
